At the beginning of the 30's, the birth of the cooperative movement represents the response of the wine world to the crisis that affects the whole economy. As a result, Marquis de Saint-Estèphe was born in 1934 thanks to the will of 42 wine growers.

The Marquis

The cooperatives cellars suffered from poor image during many years, but they have put an end to it. Indeed, deriving benefit from the technical improvementsrealised as much for the vine culture as in the wine-making process, the cooperative cellars maintain now comparison with products of similar appellations.

The Marquis de Saint-Estèphe was successful in intensifying the search for quality with high-performance tools as well as skilled staff while mixing advanced techniques and respect of the tradition.

Indeed, thanks to the wine-making process realised separately according to the variety of vine, the brands and the "châteaux" and wich is carried out in thermoregulated tanks and oak barrels (about 750 barrels renewed each year at 70%) the Marquis de Saint-Estèphe has reached today a recognized quality level.

Nowadays, the Marquis counts 85 members representing a vineyard of about 120 hectares, whose average age is 35 years old and producing wine under the Saint-estèphe appellation of controled origin.

Fully aware of the qualitative possibilities of the soil, the Marquis de SAint-Estèphe has recently acquired a 15 hectares estate in Saint-Estèphe appellation, that will be soon proposed to its customers and will enlarge its range of wine prizewinners and highly recognized magazines.

From that time on, the Marquis de Saint-Estèphe will keep on improving the quality of its production so as to satisfay customers who are alwxays more demanding
